Spire Engineering Services LLC has an opening in Houston, TX

Principal Consultant I:

• Perform nonlinear dynamic offshore structural analysis with either response spectrum analysis or time history analysis, with minor supervision.

• Perform nonlinear pushover analysis of offshore structures and interpret failure sequence and failure mechanisms of structures, with minor supervision.

• Perform spectral fatigue analysis of offshore structures, with minor supervision. Efficiently build finite element model, with minor supervision.

• Utilize specialized software packages such as SACS and USFOS. Develop written technical reports and presentations.

• Present technical results to the client engineers and managers.

• Perform onshore and offshore site inspections on behalf of the company.

• Engagement in development of technical data for fixed and/or floating structural integrity management.

• Compute load requirements, or material stress factors to determine design specifications. 

 

Telecommuting permitted - must reside within commuting distance and be able to report to the office as needed. 10% domestic and international travel required as needed. Requires a Masters in Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field and 3 years experience in the job offered, Principal Engineer, Structural Engineer, or related. 3 years must include experience in the following: (1) demonstrated experience in solving complex engineering problems and developing practical, real-world solutions; (2) computing load requirements, or material stress factors to determine design specifications; (3) developing written reports and PowerPoint presentations; (4) offshore structures; and (5) structural, hydrodynamic or stability analysis packages (e.g., SACS, USFOS). Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
